Week 5 Status Report

The following are the descriptions about what each of our teammate has done in the week of 6th March.

Bhargav Arisetty

What's Cooking?

This week, I worked on extracting the author.csv and review,csv files form the yelp web site by analyzing the HTML hierarchy and finding the right tags that can give the desired data.

Upcoming

The coming week, I will be working on understanding and integrating different datasets which are gathered during the extraction phase and perform analytics on it.

Srujan Belde

What's Cooking?

For this week I have worked with my team to extract the yelp data. We have collaboratively extracted the three given files, I helped the team in the process of understanding the tags in yelp website. I was also a part analyzing the code used for extracting the results of data which we got after extraction. I have extracted the data of weather from the website Wunderground.com. In this process of extraction I have analyzed the URL's and using the looping conditions I have triggered each date using each URL and on each URL page, I have scraped the data for the average, minimum and maximum temperature for each day starting from the early 1900's to the current date.

I will be working on the next steps for the project and also understand database part of the course to complete the homework 2.

This week, I worked on extracting the restaurant.csv file using beautiful soup after going through its documentation.

Next week, I will working on the given sample datasets and will also go through the sentiment analysis to figure out positivity and negativity of given reviews.

This week, I have worked on Yelp data extraction where data of at least 100 restaurants are scraped in Chicago city locations with zip-code 60610
