Week 4 Status Report

The following are the descriptions about what each of our teammate has done in the week of 26th February.

Bhargav Arisetty

What's Cooking?

This week, I worked along with my team to draft out the technical spec and high-level design document which we will be using it as a reference in the later developments of the framework. I spent time figuring out and playing with the machine learning algorithms(specifically the implementation of logistic regression and decision trees) and the libraries which we will be using to accomplish these tasks. Started my work on the Yelp data extraction.

Upcoming

The coming week, I along with my team will be working on to conclude the initial data extraction phase of this project and will be committing the scripts and the datasets which we will be using further in the development process.

Srujan Belde

What's Cooking?

I have read the first 2 chapters of "Sentiment analysis and opinion mining." by Professor Liu, Bing. I have understood what and how sentimental analysis is performed in real world and in programming languages like python. I have read about logistic regression and decision trees as well. I have contributed my part to the report which has the high level design of the project by describing how we implement few portions of our project which include the sentimental analysis and visualization. I have understood the html divisions in the yelp website so that the extraction of required data will be quick in the upcoming week. I have also tried finding a good fit for the weather data set.

Upcoming

I will be working on the extraction of the data from the given resources with combined efforts from our team.

This week I have contributed for the high level design report and also additionally extracted business licenses and crime data from the city of Chicago data portal.

In the upcoming week, We will be finishing the task of extracting all the required data from the given sources.

This week, I have worked on Technical approach and High level design report enlisting all feasible technologies and APIs required for our project. I have drafted, edited and formatted the document. Also, I have started working on Yelp data extracts due next week.
