Week 1 Status Report

The following are the descriptions about what each of our teammate has done in the week of 5th February.

Bhargav Arisetty

What's Cooking? I created the GitHub repositories for the project. As am working on the next deliverable, I searched for the data sources that can be helpful for the analytics. Combining datasets from yelp and google reviews could help in improving the training accuracy. I found another interesting dataset from Zillow that provides a comprehensive data related to housing. I had an idea of combining this dataset with the crime data to see how the real estate market gets improved or diminished on the roots of crime.

Upcoming This week, I'll be searching for some more datasets that can improve the analytical efficiency along with scraping of these discovered data.

Hiccups? I do not have any impediments in this week's task. One thing I wonder is if we can use libraries such as numpy or pandas?

What's Cooking?

I created the webpage for the project using wix, added various fields to the website like the bio of each team member and their pictures. Created a blog for the week - 1 updates of each teammate. Started my preliminary analysis over data discovery about the city Chicago. Read few data sets like Data Catalog, City Data. The first link had various data regarding various fields like crime etc. The second like had data according to zip-codes and it also has data like average salary of Illinois as well as Chicago, weather forecast is also given in this site. I went through these websites and tried to understand if that would be useful for the project and if it is useful what could be the better attributes for the project.

Upcoming

Understand the data given by my teammates and also make an appropriate report about our data collected as a whole. Also i would work on other websites also which could give much more data.

Hiccups?

I feel that understanding data and understanding what attributes are important is a difficult task which made me think about every data set i found about the city.

Pranay Rasulury

What's Cooking? This week as part of data discovery phase, I found datasets from the Kaggle website. It consists of crime data in chicago since 2001 providing various info like type, location and arrest. This data can be used alongside with other data like apartments, hospital locations, etc to gain interesting insights. Also contributed for the website development.

Upcoming Next week I will be working on the preliminary report and finalize the exact datasets to be used for the project.

What's Cooking? I have worked on the developement of the website by incorporating some information put up for display on the website. Worked on data sources required for data discovery phase, where I took care of datasets pertaining to weather. I found Weather Underground which lists past weather data of chicago.

Upcoming For the next week, I am working on the data discovery preliminary report.
